Kanjō | Gen 2.0 | Guatemala Verde Marble

Made to Order Edition

by Roy David

Kanjō—named after the Japanese word for “emotion” or “feeling”—is a contemplative sculpture that distills the subtle language of facial expression into an abstract, tactile form. Inspired by the quiet complexity of human emotion, each piece invites touch, reflection, and personal interpretation.

Designed as an interactive object, Kanjō responds to movement: it rotates, revealing shifting profiles that echo the fluidity of mood. With every turn, the sculpture becomes a mirror for the viewer’s inner state—serene, tense, curious, calm. No two encounters are the same.

Each Kanjō in this edition is carved from a single block of Guatemalan Verde marble, a richly veined green stone known for its dramatic mineral patterns. The surface is smoothly polished, enhancing the depth of color and revealing the stone’s natural variations in detail. Its black and white streaks appear almost in motion—evoking energy even in moments of stillness.

Though polished, the material speaks plainly: of time, pressure, and geological intensity. Kanjō embraces these qualities, allowing the marble’s inherent complexity to shape a sensory and emotional experience. It reflects a belief that feeling can live in form—refined, tactile, and deeply present.

Each Kanjō includes a hand-signed certificate of authenticity from Architect and Artist Roy David.
