Kanjō | Gen 1.0 | Aluminum

Limited Edition of 20

by Roy David

Kanjō—meaning “emotion” or “feeling” in Japanese—is a contemplative sculpture that distills the subtle language of facial expression into an abstract, tactile form. Inspired by the quiet complexity of human emotion, each Kanjō invites touch, reflection, and personal interpretation.

Designed as an interactive object, Kanjō responds to movement—rotating and revealing shifting profiles that echo the fluidity of mood. With every rotation, the sculpture becomes a mirror for the viewer's inner state: serene, tense, curious, calm. No two encounters are the same.

Each piece is handcrafted in stone and metal, materials chosen not only for their aesthetic presence but for their honest physicality. These are materials that hold weight, that show time, that resist perfection. The design does not mask their nature—it reveals it. Kanjō is a reflection of a broader design philosophy: that emotion and material can meet without pretense, creating meaning through presence and touch.

Every Kanjō includes a hand-signed certificate of authenticity from architect and artist Roy David.
